The short version
- Not a sportsbook. Guru-frat is a sports betting data and analytics tool. We never take bets and never hold your money.
- Not advice. Nothing on Guru-frat is betting, financial or investment advice. During the preseason, the odds and plays are illustrative sample data.
- Adults only, where betting is legal. Use Guru-frat only if you are of legal gambling age where you live and sports betting is legal where you are.
- Invite-only and free for now. There are no user accounts and nothing to pay for yet.
- No scraping or reselling. Use the data and the API for your own research, and don't abuse them.
- Your bets, your call. Every bet you place is your decision, made with a sportsbook. We are not responsible for how it turns out.
Season 1 preseason terms. These terms cover Guru-frat during the invite-only Season 1 preseason. We will update them before accounts or paid leagues launch, and the "Last updated" date above will change when we do.
Who we are
In these terms, "Guru-frat", "we" and "us" mean the operator of guru-frat.com, the Guru-frat web app and the Guru-frat API. "You" means anyone who visits or uses them.
By using Guru-frat you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it. Our Privacy Policy explains what data we handle and how, so please read it as well.
The service
Guru-frat compares the prices sportsbooks offer with a fair price that has the bookmaker's margin removed (see no-vig odds), grades each play from S to F (see grades explained), and rewards disciplined habits with XP, streaks and trophies.
Not a sportsbook
We never accept wagers, never take deposits and never hold your funds. Any bet you place is placed by you, with a sportsbook, under that sportsbook's rules.
Not advice
Grades, fair prices, expected value figures, stake sizes and everything else on Guru-frat are information, not betting, financial or investment advice. You decide whether to bet, and how much.
Preseason data is illustrative
During the Season 1 preseason, the games, odds, grades, plays, feed events, XP, standings and API responses are illustrative sample data, not live prices from any sportsbook. They may be inaccurate, out of date or different from what a book is offering. Don't use them to place real bets.
No guarantees
Even with live data, prices move fast, and positive expected value is an estimate over many bets, not a promise about the next one. Any bet can lose. We don't guarantee results, profits, or that a price shown will still be available when you get to the book.
Eligibility
You may use Guru-frat only if:
- you are an adult of legal gambling age where you live, and
- sports betting is legal where you are.
Guru-frat is built for an international audience, and gambling laws differ between countries and regions. You are responsible for knowing and following the laws that apply to you. Seeing a sportsbook's price on Guru-frat doesn't mean that book is licensed or available where you are. When you join with an invite code, you confirm that you meet these conditions.
If you have excluded yourself from gambling, or think you should, please don't use Guru-frat. Our responsible gaming page shows where to get free help.
Invite-only preseason and accounts
The Season 1 preseason is invite-only: you need an invite code to join.
- There are no user accounts yet. When you submit the sign-up form, a server function checks what you entered and tells you whether your invite code was accepted. Your email, password and code are not stored, and no account is created. Accounts will arrive in a later release.
- Login is limited to a test account. The login page works only for a single test account that we set up ourselves. Signing in keeps you signed in for up to 7 days, or until you log out.
- Access can change. We may change who can get in, retire invite codes, or end the preseason at any time.
When accounts launch, you will need to keep your login details private and you will be responsible for what happens under your account. We will set out the details in updated terms.
Acceptable use
Use Guru-frat for your own research. Please don't:
- scrape or bulk-copy the members area, the data or API responses with bots or scripts, other than by calling the API as described below;
- resell, republish, redistribute or license our data, grades or API responses, or use them to build a competing product;
- copy, reverse engineer or decompile the app or the API, except where the law expressly allows it;
- get around the invite gate, the login or any other access control, or probe, scan or attack our systems;
- overload the service or interfere with anyone else's use of it;
- share your login details, or use someone else's;
- harass, impersonate or mislead others, or use Guru-frat for anything unlawful, including helping someone bet where they are not allowed to.
The API
The API Playbook and the /v1/ endpoints are only for signed-in members, and during the preseason they return the same illustrative sample data as the app. There are no API keys yet: the API uses your login session, and the key and usage numbers shown in the Playbook are samples.
Call the API at a reasonable pace. We may set call limits, and we may slow down or block traffic that overloads the service or looks like scraping. If you think your login details have leaked, log out and stop using them.
Paid leagues
Paid leagues are not available yet. Our pricing page shows the leagues we plan to offer, but nothing can be bought today and we don't collect payment details.
When paid leagues launch:
- we plan to bill through Stripe, so your card details would go to Stripe, not to us;
- we plan to offer a 3-day trial on every paid league and to let you cancel at any time;
- we plan a founders price for people who join a paid league during Season 1;
- the price, billing period, any trial and how to cancel will be shown before you pay, and the terms shown at checkout will apply to your purchase.
These are plans, not offers. They may change before launch, and we will update these terms before anyone is charged.
Responsible play
Only bet what you can afford to lose. Guru-frat is designed to reward process: XP comes from habits like comparing prices across books, drafting well-graded plays and staying under your daily limit. It never comes from stake size, the number of bets you place or winning.
On your Player Card you can set a unit size and a daily unit limit, which are saved in your browser. If betting stops being fun, take a break and see our responsible gaming page for where to get free, confidential help in your country.
Sportsbooks and other third parties
Guru-frat shows prices for sportsbooks such as DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM and Pinnacle (sample prices during the preseason) and links to their sites. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them. Their names and trademarks belong to their owners, as do league and team names.
When you visit a sportsbook or any other site, its own terms and privacy policy apply. We are not responsible for third-party sites, their content, the prices they offer, whether they accept or limit your bets, or the outcome of any bet you place with them.
To run the site we also rely on Vercel, our host, and on Google Fonts, which serves the site's fonts. The Privacy Policy explains what they receive.
Intellectual property
The Guru-frat name and logo, and the site, app and API with their design, text, code and grades, belong to us or to the people we license them from.
While you follow these terms, you may use Guru-frat for your own betting research. This permission is personal to you: you can't transfer it or sell it on, and we can withdraw it if you break these terms. No other rights pass to you.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them freely without owing you anything.
Disclaimers and liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- Guru-frat is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including that it will be accurate, complete, timely, uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose.
- We are not liable for betting losses, for decisions you make using Guru-frat, or for lost profits, lost data, or any indirect, incidental or consequential loss.
- If we are found liable to you anyway, our total liability is limited to what you paid us for Guru-frat in the 12 months before the claim. Guru-frat is free during the preseason.
Some countries and regions don't allow certain warranties to be excluded or liability to be limited. Where that is the case, these limits apply only as far as the law permits, and nothing in these terms takes away consumer rights that can't be waived.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using Guru-frat at any time. Since there are no user accounts yet, there is nothing to close: logging out removes our cookies, and clearing your browser's site data removes anything Guru-frat stored on your device (the Privacy Policy lists what that is).
We may suspend or end your access, including invite codes, the test login and API access, at any time: for example if you break these terms, misuse the API, put the service or other people at risk, or when we close or change the preseason. We may also change, pause or discontinue any part of Guru-frat.
The sections on intellectual property, disclaimers and liability and governing law and disputes keep applying after your access ends.
Changes to these terms
We will update these terms as Guru-frat grows, and in particular before accounts and paid leagues launch. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will also point them out on the site.
If you keep using Guru-frat after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms. If you don't agree with them, stop using Guru-frat.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the place where Guru-frat's operator is based. If you live somewhere whose consumer protection laws give you rights that a contract can't change, those rights still apply.
If you have a problem with Guru-frat, we will try in good faith to resolve it informally before either of us takes it further.
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
Contact
During the invite-only preseason we don't have a public contact address. We will publish one on this page before accounts or paid leagues launch. For how we handle data, read the Privacy Policy.
